Emma's First Real Halloween (kinda)

So, since last year at this time we were still getting ear infections about once a month (or more) we weren't about to take her out in cold weather in a silly outfit. This year, Emma was going to sport her elephant costume that Gramz made for her upcoming stage debut in Erin's school production of Seussical Jr. However, after a day of running errands with mommy and daddy, and already fighting a bit of a cold, trick-or-treating was again foregone in favor of bedtime. We took these pictures this morning, after she had slept for 14 HOURS!!! She of course still wouldn't pose for us, but we did the best we could!

On Christmas Eve, Coco and Bruceki drove up from Houston and we went to Maggiano's at Northpark for a Christmas Eve feast. We intentionally parked on the opposite side of the mall so we could walk it off afterwards. Here we are walking through the mall...

On Christmas Eve eve (yes, two eves) we went over to Gramz and Grampz for another Christmas. KK (that's Aunt Kandy), Uncle Riney, and Aunt Amy came all the way from California and we got to open presents again. I loves me some wrapping paper! We don't have any pictures of this right now, cause Mommy and Daddy were too busy keeping me out of trouble, since I had recently "perfected" walking and was in to everything. Hopefully, some of the other menfolk will get us some pictures though so that you can see me, cause after all- that is why you're here right?

We got together with some of the family the weekend before Christmas. I got lots of really cool paper and stuff that makes loud crinkling noises when you mess with it! Oh, and there were some clothes and things too, but the paper was definetly the best part!

My first Thanksgiving!

So, on Thanksgiving Day, we went over to Granddad and Gigi's for their annual giant family celebration, but we didn't stay too long, cause Daddy got to go to the Cowboys' game with Granddad and Aunt Jen. Here they are at the game, along with the guy who got them tickets.

The next day, Mommy and Daddy and Uncle Matty cooked their first ever Thanksgiving, which turned out pretty well, considering it was the first time any of them had tried to cook turkey! I kept an eye on them and made sure they didn't burn down the house or anything.

My 1st Halloween

So, since this year is my first Halloween, Mom and Dad decided to do what they apparently do every Halloween- turn off all of the lights and hide in the back of the house! Actually, they did consider taking em out, but since I was having ear infections on a regular basis and it was pretty cold that day, we just stayed in! Maybe next year!

Back to School for Mommy and Daddy

Ugh! How cute am I? It's hard to contain me within my crib anymore, now that I'm mobile! Here I was supposed to be napping. Yeah right!

Sitting up was cool and so was rolling over, but I'm on a mission. If I could keep my balance, I'd be running all over the place.

Forget expensive toys, just tickle me with a water bottle and I'm golden!

Summer Ends

In early August we went to Brownwood for my first wedding. We stood outisde most of the time because I wanted to make noise, but I sure looked cute!

Wow, these hotel beds are huge! Especially when you're only 20" tall!

A few weeks later, mommy's Aunt Amy came to visit. She brought me some super cute clothes from Cali!

I started trying to crawl this summer, but I wasn't real happy about it. Mommy and Daddy kept making me try, but I got it finally.

So much happier in this picture. There must be food nearby!

In July, we went to Kansas to visit Gramz's mom and dad. I got some new friends along the way, and also had lots of time for napping. These are my freinds Robin Hood and Bella Bunny, they kept me company while I slept.

Aunt Kandy went with us too. She and Gramz had fun with me there.

My 2nd Trip to a Museum

So, technically this is my first trip to a musuem, but also it was my 2nd, because exactly one year ago my Mommy and Daddy went to the Star Wars exhibit in Fort Worth. And that night they found out that I was coming! So, I was kinda there a year ago, but this time I got to actually see stuff.
HELP! I'm stuck on this giant sculpture man!
They even had a babysitter at the museum for me!

Our First Independence Day

On the 3rd, we went to Kaboom Town in Addison with Gramz and Grampz and Uncle Matty. Grampz kept me entertained in the car on the way there...

...but once we were there I taught Mommy and Daddy a few things about cards. I told Daddy that he's not suppossed to show his cards, but he doesn't listen!

On the 4th, we went down to Waco to see Granny and Coco and Bruski. We had lots of fun playing on the floor, and saw lots more fireworks on the way home.

My First Baseball Game

Yesterday, we went to my first Rangers game! Mommy and Daddy bought me this outfit last year, before they knew I was a girl- so they had to add a bow to make it a bit more appropriate for a princess!At the game, Ian Kinsler hit a lead off homerun to start the Rangers off right. They lost the lead for a while, but ended up beating the Phillies in the end! I must be good luck!

Going on 2 months

Well, Erin's back at work now, and it's going pretty well. Life has been so awesome with this little girl. She starting sleeping through the night several weeks ago and we thought, "wow, this kid is incredible!"

Then she stopped sleeping through the night! We still think she's awesome, we just think it through dazed eyes again. 22 days of school until summer!

At almost 8 weeks, we're really starting to see some personality come through. She's in love with the Disney's Beauty and the Beast Broadway poster that hangs above her changing table. We can't figure out what it is about that thing, but she'll probably start talking to it long before she does to us!

She's also starting mimicking sounds and gestures. She sticks her tongue out frequently, and has starting cooing and making other "happy noises". She squeezed my arm with both of hers the other day while I was burping her, and I thought I was going to melt. We just can't wait for this summer, when we will be able to watch her continue to develop and become a mobile toot, rather than her current, fairly stationary goober status.

Wow, it's been over a month now. Who knew that babies were so much work? Oh yeah, EVERYONE! Emma K's been awesome. God only knows where all of that food goes. It didn't take us long to come up with the "Hungry, Hungry Hippo" song, which sometimes calms her while Erin, or the bottle, get ready.

Erin will be going back to work soon, which is a little scary for her. Fortunately, there's only about 30 days of school before the summer, so she doesn't have to be gone long.
I know pretty much everyone reading this is either family or friends (and most of them already have kids too), but can I just say what an amazing, miraculous blessing it is to see something so small come to fruition after 9 months? Especially when half of those months were spent lying down! It is amazing that something so helpless and needy, that does nothing for itself or for you, can be so loved! I mean really, we live in a world that's all about "what can you do for me?", and yet the most important thing in our world now is this little person who does nothing except ask for us to meet her needs! And then to think, man! God loves me infinitely more than I love this little girl, and I'm just as whiny as she is! Ceaselessly amazing! Have I used that word yet? Hmm. Okay, here's some pictures, which I know is why you actually came to look at this blog anyways!

Emma Kaylee is BORN!!!

Well, it took alot of convinving, and 25 hours of labor, but we finally got Miss Emma Kaylee Turek out here into the world at 7:51pm on Friday, March 14th! She weighed in at 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 19 and 1/4 inches long. She swallowed some gunk on the way out and had to go to ICU for some extra care and pumping, but not before Daddy got to take one picture of her.

OY VEY! I kept scratching myself, so they had to put mittens on me. Mittens in March! 12 hours out of the womb and already they've got me committing fashion faux pas!

I'll just have to forget about it and find a happy place. (Don't worry CPS- the buds aren't actually in her head!)
